German cultural-exchange project to land in Shanghai

The three-year cultural-exchange project was discussed between the German delegation and Shanghai World Expo organizers this afternoon. "Germany and China - Moving Ahead Together," is the theme of this project.

The discussion was about the project’s finale in Shanghai. Zhou Hanmin, deputy director of the 2010 World Expo Executive Committee and Expo Bureau staff, met with the German delegation, headed by Albrecht von der Heyden, the German Consul General in Shanghai. The discussion proposed many special activities to mark the end of the project.

The three-year cultural exchange program was inaugurated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2007 while visiting China. It has featured a series of cultural events such as shows and concerts which can give Chinese people a better understanding of Germany.

It is scheduled to tour Nanjing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shengyang, Wuhan and Changchun in 2010. The last stop will be Shanghai.
