
First batch of Expo volunteers attended the interview, 80% of who were college students
The interview for the first batch of 2010 Shanghai Expo volunteers was held yesterday.
There were four examination rooms set in Gezhi Middle School in Shanghai, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Donghua University, and Shanghai University of T.C.M.
520 applicants, who were recommended by the city's volunteer stations, took part in the interview. About 80% of the applicants are college students, and others are workers from enterprises and institutions, retired workers and freelancers.
It is learned that the main duty of the first batch of volunteers is to help the volunteer stations ensure the Expo volunteer mobilization, recruitment, selection, promotion, training, site construction and other related work. They will serve in Expo site and voluntary service station in city during the Shanghai World Expo.
The yesterday’s interview was concentrated in the applicant's concept of voluntary service, the volunteer service experience, foreign language application ability and psychological quality.
The applicants who have passed the interview will be organized to receive several trainings, such as, serving in some large-scale events, promoting urban volunteer service stations. The final list of the first batch of volunteers will be launched in the 200-day countdown to the 2010 Shanghai Expo.
