
Shanghai Expo Late-model passenger ferries to be unveiled
The first batch of late-model passenger ferries arrived Expo Site this afternoon, which will be used as the main water transport during the Shanghai World Expo.
Shanghai World Expo Bureau made a final check about the ferries in the delivering ceremony, and issued the ship’s registry, the ship inspection and ship operating certificates.
These four passenger ferries will go on their test run since tomorrow. The public can enjoy the convenient of the water transport before the 2010 World Expo.
Yao Jinhua, vice minister of Ministry of Communications of Shanghai World Expo Bureau, said that the late-model passenger ferries have used the foreign yacht style for reference and made breakthroughs in shape, function conversion and equipment selection compared with the existing passenger ferries.
The late-model passenger ferries are also equipped with air conditioning. The whole design reflects the emphasis on ride comfort and broad vision. Besides, a multimedia system, which is integrated with entertainment, advertising and news, provides a comfortable environment for passengers.
There will be 22 ferries during the Shanghai World Expo, which will carry the task of delivering 200,000 to 300,000 passengers across the Huangpu River.
