
Three cities in Switzerland to display common city hall
On December 7, representatives from Basel, Geneva and Zurich of Switzerland demonstrated the common city hall which will be built in the Urban Best Practices Area of Expo 2010 at the first time. Guy Morin, Basel Stadt governor, Corine Mauch, Zurich Mayor, and Sami Kanaan, Geneva project representative, show the part of the City Hall’s construction in Expo and the content of the project by the means of 360-degree panorama in exhibition hall of Basel.
In just eight minutes, the landscape of three Swiss cities – Basel, Geneva and Zurich, will be displayed in front of visitors. Visitors will experience the true meaning of quality urban life and these are fruitful results well brought by three cities continually investing in water resource management.
It’s learned that the city hall designed by Basel designer Stauffenegger & Stutz features the theme of "Better Water - Best Urban Life”, and the three cities will display the contributions to sustainable water management. At present, the three cities will invest one million Swiss francs (US$974,900) each and sponsors will fund another 1.6 million Swiss francs.
During 2010 Shanghai World Expo, three cities will hold series of activities on May 29, 2010 “Common City Day” and August 12, 2010 “Swiss Day”.
