
Total number of World Expo visitors exceeds 13 million
Yesterday saw about 418,000 visitors rushing into the Shanghai Expo site and the total number of World Expo visitors in the past 43 days surged to more than 13.13 million. Among the visitors, about 167,600 were on group tours. About 51,315 visitors used free tickets distributed by Shanghai government to local residents.
As of 7pm, more than 42,434 tickets were sold on site, with 15,757 night admissions. Visitors holding evening tickets, which can only be bought at ticket offices on the 2010 World Expo site, can enter the site after 5pm. By 6pm yesterday, Houtan gate received as many as 78,000 visitors, Changqing Road 69,000, and Shangnan Road and Gaoke Road W. about 55,000 each. By 5pm yesterday, 91 performances had been staged, attracting about 151,800 visitors. Altogether 7,862 volunteers served on the site.
Five medical service stations inside the Wrold Expo site received 290 visits by 4pm yesterday.
