Shanxi Folk Art Week began

Drum performances launched Shanxi Folk Art Week at World Expo in the morning of May 19th. 

Top Shanghai leaders and top Shanxi leaders including Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng and Shanxi Provincial Party Secretary and head of the local legislative body Zhang Baoshun attended the opening ceremony. 

The week will promote the northern province’s culture and feature more than 70 performances presented by 1,200 people including drum performances, exhibitions of making ink stones, paper cutting, ceramic pattern-making, float parade, a Peking opera, a stage play, a musical, Shanxi traditional operas, singing, dancing and Chinese rap. 

The province will showcase its traditions as well as innovations and modernity.
